Vassilis Kessissoglou

Vassilis KessissoglouBorn in Athens in 1950. He studied film direction in Athens and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He has written and directed 3 short films (fiction), and about 40 TV documentaries –12 of which were also produced by him– on social and cultural subjects.
Has written about 15 scripts for teleplays and feature films, some of which for other well-known Greek directors –among them, Vassilis Georgiadis, who was nominated for Best Foreign Language Oscar in 1963 and in 1965. Has also won a prize for a script in 1977, and was funded by the European Script Fund in November 1992.
His feature film titled A Wedding On The Fringe (written, directed and co-produced by himself in 1989), par­ticipated in 7 International Film Festivals including Edinburgh, New Delhi, San Remo and Seattle, was sold to several countries, from Belgium and Sweden to Australia and Iran, won 3 prizes at the 30th Thessalonica Film Festival, Greece (Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress) in 1989.

Member of Directors Guild of Greece since 1983 and Scriptwriters’ Guild of Greece since 2007.
