Call for submissions for the Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival 2014

Balkans Beyond Borders opens the call for submissions for the 5^th edition of Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival, the festival that travels from city to city in the Balkans and triggers inspiration through its thematic every year.After four successive years of BBB film festival, young film makers again have the opportunity to create, share, show their films, meet and collaborate.

This year we invite young artists up to the age of 35 from the Balkan region and beyond to Dare to Repeat and send their own short film related to this year’s topic. The main objective of BBB is to motivate young people to make use of their creativity in order to reflect on issues of concern in their region. The submission period will run from the 4^th of March until the 1^st of July. The 5^th Edition of Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival will take place in Sarajevo in October 2014.

This year BBB triggers young film makers to

“Dare to Repeat”

- Repetition as one of the most used strategies in contemporary art, literature, music, theatre, dance and film.

- Repetition not as occurrence of the same, but as the difference and creative activity of transformation that produces variations through the act of repetition.

- Repetition as a new experience, encouraging new discoveries and experiments, with different expressions emerging each time.

- Repetition produced via difference and not mimesis.

- Repeat = to begin anew again.

- Repetition as transformation, as concept between identical, different and seemingly like, copy and original, primary and consequent, bringing about a reflection on contemporary issues.
